I hope I'll be back more regularly in the future, but for now, here's the synopsis of the novella I wrote while recuperating from surgery:
The Hindenburg gave her the powers, a Superman comic gave her the goal.
Brigitta Bayer had her life changed the day Tristan saved her from death by fire on the Hindenburg in 1937. In World War II, she learns of superheroes and vows to become one. As she slowly ages through the 20th century, she has time to figure out what to do with her newfound powers over fire. When the unimaginable happens on September 11, 2001, the answer is obvious. Help. And so is born Ember, the first superhero the world has ever seen, outside of comic books.
